Description of the work:
The Market Introduction Capacity Building includes the training, and information exchange activities for retailers and manufacturers related to the market introduction and consumer & retailer education aspects of appliance labelling and energy efficiency policy, as well as general aspects of the EU regulations and policies. This relates to:
· Knowledge and understanding of the relevant EU policy (negotiated agreements, action plans, programs);
· Knowledge and understanding of typical national energy conservation policies for appliances and equipment, including financing and marketing options for energy efficient appliances.
The following activities have been accomplished:
Ø Development of a training programme for national experts including the overview of EU requirements in communicating Standards & Labelling to the public and the retail chain, and overview of best practices in EU MS;
Ø Organization of training sessions in the form of workshops with national experts about the market introduction issues for most relevant national stakeholders - manufacturers, retailers & consumer representatives and/or 2 consultations for each of the labelled appliance types, including the proposed legislation for new appliances;
Ø International and local experts provided input for the training programme and workshops.
Results of this activity:
1. Training programme for retailers and manufacturers, training manual publication
2. Workshop organisation in every participating country or the alternative of individual consultations to at least 20 key people in each project participating EU NMS and candidate country.
